Spirea are easy to care for shrubs that produce an abundance of colorful flowers and foliage throughout the summer. They are exceptionally hardy and are regularly used in landscapes where a tough-as-nails plant is needed. Once established, they can tolerate dry soils and some drought. Use as a specimen or plant in mass.
A tidy, compact shrub that fits just about anywhere in the garden because it's so small, the vibrant red new leaves in spring will mature to gold then turn burgundy-red in fall. Clusters of pink flowers will cover the plant in summer. Deadhead to promote a fall rebloom. Deer resistant. Attracts hummingbirds and songbirds.
