Astilbe japonica False Spirea 'Montgomery'
Chinese japonica False Spirea 'Montgomery'

Clumps of fern-like foliage with upright, plume-like flower stalks.
Astilbe are a popular choice for shady gardens, where they perform well if given a rich, moist soil and regular watering. This midsized selection has full plumes of deep cherry red, over a bushy mound of elegant, lacy green leaves. Also thrives in tubs or mixed containers. Fertilize in April and June. Excellent for cutting. Seed heads may be removed, or left on the plant for winter interest. Plants should be divided every 2 to 3 years, in early spring. May tolerate full sun in cool summer regions. Blooms early to mid summer. Deer resistant, container plant, winter hardy, cut flower.
