Hollyhock Alcea rosea 'Mars Magic'
Hollyhock Alcea rosea 'Mars Magic'

Showy single blooms surrounded by tall green foliage.
Hollyhocks have been grown in gardens for centuries, their tall spikes of satiny, crepe-textured flowers making a fine display in mid-summer. They were usually relegated to the back of a sunny border, with something in front to hide their bare lower stems. However this is no longer necessary with this new strain. This selection features tall spikes of large, old-fashioned single flowers in various shades of red over a low mound of foliage. Flowers appearing the first season. Cut plants back to 8 inches after blooming. Attractive to both butterflies and hummingbirds. The Spotlight series was recently bred and introduced by Jelitto Seeds of Germany. Blooms mid to late summer.
Deer resistant, attracts butterflies and hummingbirds, winter hardy, cut flowers
