Ostrich Fern Matteuccia struthiopteris 'The King'
Ostrich Fern Matteuccia struthiopteris 'The King'

Enormous, upright fern with huge crowns and fronds that are 50% larger than the standard Ostrich Fern.
This selection is extremely hardy and reported to grow up to 50% larger than its native parent, reaching up to 180 cm or 6 feet or more in ideal conditions. Plants form a large, upright clump of big green fronds creating a tropical look and combining beautifully with Toad-Lilies and Hosta. Requires moist, rich soil where it will receive constant moisture. Edible fiddleheads but caution, cook thoroughly before consuming (in moderation). Easy and carefree. Also thrives in hot, humid southern regions where most Ostrich Ferns would not.
